The fifth round of the 2024 F4 Spain championship has left a good taste in the mouth of the Tecnicar Motorsport Solutions team. Although qualifying was not perfect, our three drivers made numerous overtakes on track, having a competitive pace and getting close to the points positions.
The appointment at the Ricardo Tormo circuit started with a collective test of three hours that took place on Friday. After the chequered flag, our drivers and engineers worked to analyse all the data and prepare for the races on Saturday and Sunday.
Some technical problems, which were quickly solved by our mechanics, prevented us from maximising our performance and the first qualifying left us with some difficult results.
However, the potential of the car was there and our drivers showed their ability to come back. Adam Al Azhari gained 10 positions to finish in an excellent top 20, Wiktor Dobrzanski gained seven positions and Lorenzo Castillo moved up five places.
This result boosted the team’s morale heading into the final day, when the last two races of the weekend took place.
The second race produced even better results. Lorenzo Castillo finished 17th while Adam Al Azhari and Wiktor Dobrzanski were in the top 20.
Finally, in the third race, Adam Al Azhari moved up 10 positions, six of them on the first lap after a great start, to come close to the top 10 and sixth in the rookie standings. He did it by making a great start, fighting head to head with his rivals and making risky overtakes that allowed him to progress throughout the race.
Lorenzo Castillo also gained 8 positions to be in the top 25 and Wiktor Dobrzanski was 27th.
With these good feelings, demonstrating a good pace in the race and being close to scoring new points, Tecnicar leaves Valencia with energy and motivation to learn from their mistakes and achieve better results in Jerez, the next round of the F4 Spain championship.
Adam Al Azhari: ‘It was a very good weekend. Qualifying didn’t go well at all, I didn’t do well at all. The race was crazy, I had a good start and gained a lot of experience overtaking and fighting. We had the pace, we overtook on almost every lap.’
‘The last race was fun, I really enjoyed it. My engineer was talking to me all the time and helped me a lot. Coming back to the garage everyone was very happy, it was great to finish so strong.’
Wiktor Dobrzanski: ‘In the first race we gained a lot of positions. The last race, due to the high temperatures, did not go as planned. I want to thank the team for the great work this weekend.’
